Peer Blog Comentary
For my peer blog review I reviewed posts from Alex Militello's blog (https://newcolorwaves.blogspot.com/) and Marissa Mele's blog (https://artsocietyandnewmedia.blogspot.com/).
Militello Project 1 (https://newcolorwaves.blogspot.com/2019/02/project-1.html)
For Alex's first project I believe the student did a good job of finding interesting and different images for each theme or principle in the world around them, instead of finding sources specifically in art. This made their slideshow interesting to watch. Because the student chose themes from the everyday, some of the images could also have played into other principles or elements. The street light used for space could also have been used for emphasis, and the cinnamon buns used for texture could also have been used for shape. I believe the images chosen were successful in communicating their intended principle or element.
Militello Project 2 (https://newcolorwaves.blogspot.com/2019/03/visit-number-one.html)
I found Alex's reflection on the first gallery visit to be engaging. In this instance my peer and I did not choose any of the same images to discuss. I thought it was fun to read about which pieces impacted another person as opposed to the ones that impacted myself. The student specifically made a mention of a connection to nature, which I mentioned in my own post about some of the pieces that I felt a personal connection to.
Mele Project 1 (https://artsocietyandnewmedia.blogspot.com/2019/02/project.html)
For Marissa's first project I found that she used cohesive set of images that all conveyed the elements and principles in a clever way. I enjoyed that the student included a combination of artwork and everyday occurrences to convey her ideas. The icicles used for the concept of line could also have been used for the concept of form, and the piece at the end of the slide show used for value could also have been effective for texture. Overall, I appreciated that all of the students images were very high quality, and each of them was captivating and beautiful in their own way.
Marissa did not make a gallery visit post so my next gallery visit comment was on Amanda Lynch's gallery visit (https://amandasartworld.blogspot.com/2019/03/project-2.html)
I thought Amanda did a great job documenting her gallery visit. She and I did not choose the exact same pieces, but we chose pieces for some of the same reasons. Her comment on the piece "I think so" made me laugh, and reminded me of how I also personally related to a figure piece because of the pose and body type of the subject. Her comments were engaging and smart.
Overall I thought it was fun to read my peers reflections because everyone chose to write about different pieces or create slideshows of different objects. Seeing how my peers tackled the same assignments as me allowed me to have a fresh new take on the assignments and how I approached them.
I didn't receive any comments on my gallery visit post. However, I found the comments on my first project post to be very helpful. I'm always open to constructive criticism and I feel like I learned a lot from the peer review.
