Gallery Curation Reflection Journal

When I first read the description of this assignment, I knew immediately what I wanted my theme to be. In the beginning of the semester, when I created this blog, the front page of the blog included a large picture of a cat, which I never changed. This stock image cat was the inspiration for my imaginary gallery show "Cats in Art". First I chose my pieces. I wanted there to be a wide range of styles, regions of origin, media, and dates of origin. I found Google Arts and Culture to be very helpful in finding pieces I liked that were completely different from one another. I wanted each piece to stand out on their own, but find similarity in their energy and the subject. I chose a wide range of prints, paintings, and sculpture to express these ideas. I found that while all the pieces were drastically different, they all communicated the personality of a cat in a strong sense.
